1 & 2 – Obtained using GeekTool. I won’t go into detail how to setup and use this app, as it’s documented online already. Here is a repository of geeklets you can use in GeekTool. The customizations is endless…

3 – Shell script that queries out domains specified and displays if they are online or offline. GeelTool is used to run the shell script at set 5 minute intervals.

4 – I’m a big fan of RTM. I use the browser and mobile apps, but at times, need a quick glance on what needs to be done for the day. Found a python script by David Silver (found here) that will display your task via a generated ATOM feed within RTM. GeekTool is used to display the info on the desktop.

5 – This “space” obtained on the doc can be obtained by running the following in terminal: “defaults write persistent-apps -array-add ‘{tile-data={}; tile-type=”spacer-tile”;}’ ; killall Dock”
